We all want to be known as THE expert in our particular niche. It sets us apart from the rest of the crowd and opens extra opportunities to help others and grow our business even more.
But how do you get to expert status… especially if you’re just starting out?
Follow these 5 simple steps to build your expert status and start to become known in your niche.
#1 Decide what you want to be known for…
What do you want to become known for? This isn’t something that usually happens TO you, it’s a conscious decision YOU make. What sets you apart from your competitors?
What is it that you do differently? Do you sell something unique or use a unique method? What do you want people to remember you for?
#2 What’s your story?
Everyone loves a good story – so what’s yours? What took you from where you were to where you are now? What situation or event drew you to make a decision to work for yourself and in the niche you’re in?
What were your highlights and lowlights? How can your potential customers relate to your story? Write all your answers down so you can use them in your marketing materials etc.
#3 Gather proof
You now have the basis of your story, along with the highs and lows – so now it’s time to gather together extra proof!
Who have you helped using your techniques? What testimonials and case studies do you have to back up your expertise? If you haven’t yet started getting clients – what can you do to bring clients and testimonials in?
Can you hold a 30 day challenge or open up some space for a trial?
#4 Talk about what you know
Now you know what you want to become known for, plus you have evidence to back it up – it’s now time to start talking about it!
Start blogging or writing articles, share interesting content on social media and putting your knowledge and experience out there.
#5 Listen and interact with your fans
Finally, interact with your ideal clients and fans. Join groups where your ideal fan base hangs out… answer their questions, start conversations and ask questions – you can then use the answers as content for further blog posts etc.
The more you interact with your ideal clients, the more you will understand what they want and the terminology they use.
By following these steps, not only will you know what they want but you’ll also know what their ideal solution is – and you’ll be seen as the expert in these groups too!
