Hi!
Incredible… somehow in the realms of cyberspace you found me!
When I left my role recently with Christopher Howard Training I made wild promises from stage about starting a blog so that people could keep in touch with me and find out what I was up to and what I was doing. At the time, I didn’t really even know what blog meant. And tonight I am proud to announce I adjusted a theme and uploaded my own pictures… look out web-designers, I’m taking over!!
I don’t think the look and feel is quite there yet, but hey… if we waited til I got it perfect you’d never hear from me!!
So here I am…
The last few months I have been doing some navel gazing and some philosophising, a lot of networking as well as a lot of out and out nothing… and over this time I have really been inspired by a number of social entrepreneurs.
I guess the purpose of this blog is to share with anyone who’s interested what I am discovering about contribution as a lifestyle, about the others focussed life rather than the self-focussed life, and the importance of having a reason to get out of bed in the morning.
Having spent years in personal development I’ve learnt that unless there’s a purpose for growth and change, it can get ugly… I find it fascinating, if not somewhat disturbing that despite unprecedented amounts of information available on how to change our thinking, we have unprecedeted rates of depression and other “mental illnesses”. I wonder if its because in this day and age so many of us are blessed with the luxury of not having to worry about where the next meal is coming from, so we find ourselves with plenty of time to wonder “am I worthy?” I wonder what would happen if we started to focus on others for inspiration, if we made a commitment to them, and then had to grow to deliver on that commitment.
Just some nebulous thoughts… I’ll be chatting more about them frequently, so please check in from time to time!! Oh… and leave a comment if you can work out how! I don’t think I can tell you that yet!!
Make someone’s day!!
Love Joey x
Hi Doc
It’s great to see on the web and not just on stage in Hawaii. Keep posting!!
Tony
Thanks Tony!
I’ll keep blogging if you keep reading!! And probably even if you don’t!
Lots of love,
J xx
Hello there,
It’s a superbly liberating feeling being able to share your thoughts – especially on the enormous world wide web.
I look forward to reading more of your musings.
(You’ve inspired me to get my blog going – it’s on it’s way).
Helena 🙂
Liberating is certainly one word for it… plain silly and asking for trouble is another… but hey, we do it any way huh? Glad to be of inspiration!

Wow – hello Joey – great to see you broadcasting online! I’m resonating with the “Am I worthy?” message – for me the path of personal development has been so much about discovering how much I already have – and how much I have to give others which is often of far more value to them than any cost to me. Maybe that’s a driver for the continual quest for contribution – as human beings we fundamentally need to give more than to receive?
HI Rhian,
That is so true. Otherwise how can it be that some of the most generous people we meet have the least. I remember when I was working as a medical student in the highlands in PNG, I would be invited to share meals with people who hardly had enough to feed their own family. It made such a huge impression on me… and they are some of the loveliest, funniest and most content people i have ever met. I am sure one’s fulfilment is directly proportional to the amount one gives.
One other interesting thing though is that sometimes when we hope to help, we inadvertently upset the balance. This is something I hope to explore over the course of the next few days and weeks as well… keep in touch,
J xx
aha!
ive had a few of them moments over the past few months!

Hmmm… Yes I can see the bogeys thing. Unfortunately however I don’t have the web design skills to adjust that… perhaps I need to chat to the gals at butterfly design…… one step at a time I guess!
